data-end=\"1157\">Menaggio<\/strong>, overlooking Lake Como, with a clear request from the project architect: drastically improve the building\u2019s energy performance without altering its architectural appearance.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1333\" data-end=\"1349\">The presence of:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1351\" data-end=\"1454\">\n<li data-start=\"1351\" data-end=\"1374\">traditional fa\u00e7ades<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1351\" data-end=\"1374\">exposed stone surfaces<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1351\" data-end=\"1374\">pronounced thermal bridges around window reveals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1456\" data-end=\"1500\">made the intervention particularly delicate.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1502\" data-end=\"1847\">A traditional high-thickness external insulation system would have required significant structural modifications, changes to the architectural proportions and invasive work on thresholds, window sills and metal flashings (as well as potentially creating unhealthy indoor conditions such as mold and fire risks when synthetic insulation is used).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1849\" data-end=\"1893\">A different approach was therefore required.<\/p>\n<h2
